Winter 2021 Minor Hockey
Danny Cammack Memorial Award Recipient:
Brody Cote
This award was created in memory of Danny Cammack.
Danny Cammack had many of the passions of a typical 13-year-old, but none was greater than hockey. What Danny lacked in size, he more than made up for with smooth powerful strides, soft hands and an uncanny puck sense.

As much as he loved the game, he loved the camaraderie that came with being a member of a hockey team. Perhaps this is why he was such a good team player. Dan loved to win but it was not the “Be all, end all”. He always kept things in perspective. Doing his best and having fun on the ice was what Danny was all about!
Since 2004, this Tucker Hockey Award has been issued quarterly each year to worthy program participants.
Coach Rex selected Brody Cote as the Winter 2021 Minor Hockey – Danny Cammack Memorial Award Recipient. Congratulations!

After lots of time away from the rink due to Covid, we were excited to re-connect with Brody’s family to learn a bit more about Brody!
A huge thank you to Brody’s Mom, Marcy, for taking the time to provide us these answers from Brody and for the kind note from you:
“Thank you for choosing Brody for this award. After all this frustrating COVID stuff, it was so nice for him to get a little “pick me up”.”
Tell us a little about yourself:
Brody is 11 years old in grade 6. He was a Saint until the association closed then became part of SVHA. Due to hockey being cancelled (for the most part), Brody has kept his skills honed at the community rink over winter 2020/21.
What do you like about the sport of hockey?
Brody’s favourite part of hockey is the teamwork and meeting new friends that share his passion. He also loves “the thrill of strapping blades on his feet and carving through the ice” (Brody’s Mom Marcy says this is a direct quote from him that nearly made her fall over from laughing!). He loves the adrenaline rush from playing games with spectators and the camaraderie that develops within the team as they practice and get to know each other.
When and how did you initially get involved with Tucker Hockey?
Brody started playing hockey later than many children. His first year playing was first year atom and could barely skate, definitely couldn’t stop or get up on his own and had no idea how to hold a stick properly. Once the season was complete and he grew to love the sport, his mom decided it was time for extra instruction. I consulted many parents at the rink and Tucker’s name came up again and again. Without a second thought, we signed him up for stick/puck control, skating and 3 on 3.

Spring 2019
During his first year playing, Brody ended up on Tier 7 with all of the other newbies. After a summer of Tucker Hockey, Brody managed to surpass his teammates and found himself on Tier 3. His hard work, dedication and second to none instruction, allowed him to advance very quickly and he will be forever grateful. He also thinks it’s pretty fantastic to play ice hockey during the hot summer months.
How has hockey influenced or positively affected your life?
Brody is an only child so loves the team aspect of hockey. His teammates become family members and he’s diligent about keeping in touch with the ones he establishes good relationships with. He likes being physically active and believes that hockey helps him “get his aggression’s out” in a healthy way (again, Brody’s words!!)
Editor Note:
Thanks, Marcy, for your kind words! Glad to help Brody grow his passion for hockey and improve on his skills! Brody, it has always been a pleasure to have you in our development programs. You are very coachable and hardworking player.
It sure makes our job easier! Keep enjoying your hockey.
See you on the ice soon!
~Coach Rex.
