Candace DiGiacomo is Tucker Hockey’s Office Manager / Administrator and has been with Tucker Hockey since June 2018.

Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Candace DiGiacomo. I was born in Calgary and raised on a farm about an hour north of Calgary. I am married to my wonderful husband Joe, and we have 3 beautiful children, Colten, Alivia & Arley. There is never a dull moment for our family of 5! My oldest son Colten is highly involved in hockey, and for anyone that has a child in hockey knows that it is a whole family commitment – in the best way! My daughter Alivia just started art classes and has a passion for cooking, yum! Keeping up with my youngest Arley is a full-time job as he seems to have boundless energy. My husband is a Respiratory Therapist, so the past couple years have been interesting. I love being a Mom and enjoy watching my children grow. They are my pride and joy!

Tell us a little about your interest in the sport of hockey.

I grew up watching hockey with my Dad, Go Flames Go! When I was a young child I accompanied my Dad to Byron McCrimmon’s farm in Plenty Saskatchewan to pick up a load of barley. Brad McCrimmon had just returned from his morning run and my Dad wanted to get a photo of myself and Brad. I didn’t like the idea of having the photo by myself, so Byron offered to take the picture. My Dad joined me in the photo that is now an extra special memory since the passing of Brad in September 2011.

My sport as a child was figure skating so my “home away from home” was the rink and have nothing but fond memories of my time on and off the ice. From this, I have a deep appreciation for anyone that does any on ice sport. My oldest child Colten began playing hockey at the age of 9 and we are now 100% a hockey family!

What’s the best part about hockey for you?

The absolute best part of hockey for me is the hockey community. It is like no other! The support, kindness, caring and inclusion that we have experienced with hockey has really been unbelievable.

When and how did you initially get involved with Tucker Hockey?

I got involved with Tucker Hockey in June 2018. With only one week to take over from the previous administrator it was a whirlwind learning curve and then off to the races and I haven’t looked back! The owner, Rex, has been supportive, flexible, caring and always willing to help where needed which has made working for Tucker Hockey very enjoyable.

What is the most enjoyable part of working with Tucker Hockey?

I enjoy the kind players and parents that I get the pleasure to work with. Tucker Hockey makes a difference in so many ways and I love being able to interact with those that have been positively impacted.

What other things interest you, outside hockey?

Spending time with my family – both immediate and extended, is the most important thing to me.

What are your future goals or aspirations?

My goal is to continue building my role and involvement with Tucker Hockey and to make a positive impact in the community.

Editor’s Note:

Candace is a very kind, pleasant, insightful and resourceful person. It has been a pleasure working together over the past 4+ years.

She was steadfast during the many Covid pandemic shutdowns & challenges.

I am truly grateful for her continuous loyalty & dedication to help keep the wheels on – especially during the uncertain Covid times!

Candace has truly embraced Tucker Hockey – like it was her own business! Along with my wife Marcela, Candace has been “Another Angel” within the Tucker Hockey Team.
