is Coming to Calgary

The Calgary Canucks Jr. A Club will be hosting the 2025 Centennial Cup from Thursday May 8 to Sunday May 18, 2025. The road to the Centennial Cup includes 118 teams from 9 leagues within the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). For the most up to date information on “The Road to The Centennial Cup” click HERE!

As the host team, The Calgary Canucks will be guaranteed a spot at the Centennial Cup. Impressively, they finished the 2024 / 2025 regular season first in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with a 37 – 13 – 2 – 2 record. Calgary born players are well represented on the team. There are 10 players on the Calgary Canucks that are Calgary born:

Canucks Assistant Coach, Jamie Henry notes that “the team represented the AJHL last year at the Centennial Cup so the team is looking forward to getting back to the event with some experience and with ‘unfinished business’.” The last time the team won the Centennial Cup was 30 years ago in 1995. Centennial Cup Tournament Structure:

  • Preliminary Round: Two groups of five teams; each team plays four games.
  • Points System:
    • 3 points for a win in regulation
    • 2 points for a win in overtime or shootout
    • 1 point for a loss in overtime or shootout
    • 0 points for a loss in regulation
  • Quarterfinals: 2nd place in Group A vs. 3rd place in Group B; 2nd place in Group B vs. 3rd place in Group A
  • Semifinals: 1st place vs. 4th place; 2nd place vs. 3rd place (based on prelim standings)
  • Championship Game: The two winning teams from the semifinals will compete.

Overtime Rules:

  • Preliminary Round: Five minutes, played at 3-on-3, followed by a shootout (if necessary).
  • Quarterfinals: 20 minutes, played at 5-on-5, until a winner is decided.
  • Semifinals: 20 minutes, played at 5-on-5, until a winner is decided.
  • Championship Game: 20 minutes, played at 5-on-5, until a winner is decided.
