3 on 3 Hockey Overview:

Tucker Hockey, Calgary’s premier hockey school since 1999, is running a 3 on 3 spring hockey program from April to June, with two sessions a week for players who love the fast-paced, high tempo nature of 3 on 3 hockey. These games will be formally refereed and scores kept.

Players will handle the puck more regularly and do more fast skating in a single 3 on 3 hockey game than in five regular games, and more puck possession usually means more shots, more scoring and more all-round fun!

Our 3 on 3 spring hockey is perfect for U13 through to U18 level players and there will be two ice sessions each week, taking place on Mondays / Wednesdays and Tuesdays/Thursdays.

How does Tucker Hockey 3 on 3 hockey work?

In total, there will be 4 teams for the U13 – 1st yr U15 group and 4 teams for the 2nd yr U15 – U18 group. Players will be matched according to skill level to ensure fair games.

• We do our very best to make sure our teams are competitive.
• We create 3 on 3 lines of similar levels to ensure a good competition and enjoyment from playing a fast paced 3 on 3 Spring program.

• After the first 4 games of the program, we may move players around from different teams to make the lines that play each other fairer and more competitive in nature. This does not necessarily mean each team will have equal number of games won/lost/tied. Our intention with moving players around is to keep the lines that are playing against each other competitive as possible. Wins/losses/ties in the game of hockey can never be controlled. Things to keep in mind regarding the operations of our 3 on 3 program which can have a large effect on wins/losses/ties are:
  • Different strength goalies (we try our best to vet the goalies and select similar goalies for all teams, but this is not always doable),
  • Player/goalie absences, player/goalie no shows and varying levels of subs can have a big effect on a team as a whole.

• We will accept friend requests but can not guarantee multiple friend requests on the same team. We ask that you submit ONLY one reciprocal friend request. Any additional non-reciprocal friend requests will be considered. However, they will not be prioritized.
• NOTE: No recreational or beginner players – we recommend one of our group development programs for recreational or beginner players. Email programs@tuckerhockey.com for assistance on selecting a group development program.
• There will be zero tolerance of player swearing, disrespect, & bullying.

• Persistent no shows (3 strike rule) – the player will be removed from the program with no refunds. This is a new rule starting spring 2025 and is being introduced to increase the quality and enjoyment of the program for the players on the ice, and to reinforce each players respect and commitment to their individual team.

Program Set Up:

• Each 1-hour session consists of 10 – 15 minutes of skill development and warm-up, 15 -20 minutes of 3 on 3 short games and 30 minutes of 3 on 3 full ice play.
• There will be at least 2 officials / instructors to ensure fair play, offside and no-contact rules are applied. We will adopt a policy of continuous play, quick skating, fast puck movement, individual player creativity and great goaltender showdowns.
• However, in the case of blatant foul play, the offending player will be penalized.
• Teams will wear Tucker Hockey jerseys – red versus black. Each player will receive a red and black jersey at the start and will return one at the end of the season.
• Players will have their names, or an assigned number printed on a sticker to place on their helmets and can check their stats on TeamSnap.
