This Adult Specialty Skills Program consists of 8 hockey development sessions.

The program focuses on 3 specific skill development components.
  1. Creative Puck Control - First 3 Sessions
  2. Strategic Shooting - Next 3 Sessions
  3. Backward Skating & Defensive Tactics / Evasive Skating - Last 2 Sessions
 

Creative Puck Control Program - First 3 Sessions

Our puck control program philosophy focuses on:
  • Control
  • Confidence
  • Creativity and
  • Speed with the Puck
The puck control portion will cover:
  • Stationary and moving puck control many variations including: deking and toe drags,
  • Evasive skating / puck control
  • Puck control progressions with teaching aids including:
- Pylons, puck danglers and attack triangles.
  • Puck protection / keep-away drills
  • Handling the puck under pressure / game situations

Ideally suited for but not restricted to:  

  • Adult recreational hockey players of all ages who wish to advance their puck control skills.

Perquisite:  

  • It’s a ‘you and the drill’ - individual hockey development philosophy.

  Note:  

  • The on ice curriculum may vary - depending on the overall group’s skill level. Therefore, some of the more basic drills may be repeated or more advanced drills incorporated / accelerated to maximize overall players’ development.
  • Excellent player to instructor ratio - 5 to 1.
 

Strategic Shooting Program - Next 3 Sessions

Our shooting program philosophy focuses on teaching progressions of:
  • Proper mechanics / technique
  • Accuracy
  • Quick releases
  • Power
  • Shooting under pressure / game situation
The shooting portion will cover the following shots from both stationary and moving situations:
  • Wrist shots
  • Snap shots
  • Back hand shots
  • Slap shots
  • 1 - timers

Ideally suited for but not restricted to:  

  • Adult recreational hockey players of all ages who wish to advance their shooting skills.

Perquisite:  

  • It’s a ‘you and the drill’ - individual hockey development philosophy.

Note:  

  • The on ice curriculum may vary - depending on the overall group’s skill level. Therefore, some of the more basic drills may be repeated or more advanced drills incorporated / accelerated to maximize overall players’ development.
  • Excellent player to instructor ratio - 5 to 1.
 

Backward Skating & Defensive Tactics / Evasive Skating Combo Program - Last 2 Sessions

This combo skills program will consist of a good mix of:  
  • Backward skating
  • Defensive tactics
  • Evasive / tactical skating.
  The backward skating portion will cover;  
  • Proper hockey stance
  • Starting and stopping
  • Edge control
  • Strid­ing
  • Crossovers / cross-unders and
  • For­ward to backward and backward to for­ward pivots.
  The defensive tactics portion will cover;  
  • D to D and breakout passing,
  • Shooting from the point,
  • Net play and active stick,
  • Defensive positioning and angling,
  • 1-on-1, 2-on-1 play and good gap control.
  The evasive skating portion will focus on;  
  • Creating time and space away from checking opponents by changing direction (turning, stopping, pivoting, crossovers, 3 & 9’s and shifting gears) and protecting the puck / keep away.
  • Short area games (1 vs. 1, 1 vs. 2 etc.) to simulate real game situations; improve confidence and defensive playing success.

Ideally suited for but not restricted to:  

  • Adult recreational hockey players of all ages who wish to advance their backward skating and play defenseman position better in a game.

Perquisite:  

  • It’s a ‘you and the drill’ - individual hockey development philosophy.

Note:  

  • The on ice curriculum may vary - depending on the overall group’s skill level. Therefore, some of the more basic drills may be repeated or more advanced drills incorporated / accelerated to maximize overall players’ development.
