CHECKING PROGRAM – CURRICULUM MODIFICATIONS

“Mandatory Wearing of Facial Masks”

Updated: Wednesday Aug 25, 2020

After a great deal of deliberation and consideration for players’ and on ice instructors’ safety and the proper on ice setup to deliver a high standard program, Tucker Hockey has decided that everyone will wear a facial mask on the ice for our 2020 Summer Checking Programs.

The reasoning behind this initiative is a concern about liquid droplets during the operation of this type of program. Droplet spread will probably be higher during the body contact / confidence & body checking portions, which will not allow for physical distancing at all between players. It is imperative that players and instructors wear a facial mask to help reduce and possibly prevent droplets from being spread.

Wearing a facial mask for certain low intensity / heart rate checking drills, will allow us to deliver a high-quality program with safety in mind. Once a player has completed his repetition of a body contact /checking drill such as shoulder bumping at close quarters, the player can adjust his helmet cage / pull down his mask if need be; for better breathing purposes away from other players.

Note: All on ice instructors will actively monitor players, if there are any helmet or facial mask issues / concerns throughout the checking program, to maximize comfort and safety for each player.

If you have any issues with this on ice set up or any concerns, please contact us ASAP at programs@tuckerhockey.com

In the event you do not wish to have your child participate in our checking program, we will issue a credit on file without an expiry date for future Tucker Hockey programs.

For the Checking program that is running from Monday August 17 to Friday August 21, 2020 please let us know no later then noon on Friday August 14 if you wish to not have your child participate.

For the Checking program that is running from Tuesday September 8 to Friday September 11, 2020 please let us know at your earliest convenience but no later then noon on Tuesday September 1st if you wish to not have your child participate.

Thank you in advance for your understanding during these uncertain times. As mentioned, we wish to deliver a quality program and ensure everyone’s safety; as a result, we feel we cannot deliver our usual high standard without everyone wearing on ice facial protection.
