Tucker Hockey Statement
Information Bulletin – No: 6
Dated: Wednesday, April 29thth, 2020
Subject: CANCELLATION of 2020 Summer (August) Programs
To Our Loyal Tucker Hockey Participants, Parents, and Hockey Friends:
GENERAL COMMENTS:
With each passing day, it’s becoming quite apparent that this pandemic is definitely a marathon. Many of our daily activities and the things we love to do are being cancelled or deferred into the future. Unfortunately, with out a vaccine this pandemic will probably adversely affect us for a long period of time. How long? It’s difficult for anyone to quantify a period of time.
Grit is the determination to succeed, even in very difficult situations, and we are all being tested during these challenging times. As we adjust to new routines and restricted daily activities, the disruption to our lives requires self-discipline. Please be vigilant about taking care of your physical and emotional health in the coming months. It’s ok not to be ok, reach out to others if you need help and be kind to yourself!
For many of us, the stress and uncertainty surrounding finances has become quite daunting. As mentioned before, this is a very concerning time for me. I am preoccupied with protecting my small business. I have not had any business income coming in since March 15th and this may continue until September or even later into the year. It’s critical that I bridge my business & hockey operations until things get back to normal, 2021 seems like an awful long way away. I am staying loyal to a business I have built over 20 years. Yes, Covid – 19 is certainly testing my grit. Each day I will get up, get back on “the figure it out treadmill” and continue to diligently work on something I deeply care about, Tucker Hockey.
Therefore, I value and respect your understanding as we move forward together in this unpredictable time.
2020 SUMMER (AUGUST) PROGRAMS – CANCELLATIONS:
Last Friday, the City of Calgary announced the cancellation of all public events until August 30th; this sentiment was reiterated by Mayor Nenshi yesterday afternoon. The Alberta Government indicates that COVID – 19 will not peak until later this Spring. As a result, there will not be any hockey programs operating until September at the earliest. Effective immediately, all of our Summer (August) Programs are cancelled. Please read our 2020 Summer (August) Program, Cancellation Policy in the link provided below:

PS Coaching Tip:
What we accomplish in the marathon of life depends tremendously on our grit – our passion and perseverance for long term goals and our pursuit of happiness. Grit keeps us going. Yes, the last mile of this pandemic will be the longest. I highly recommend reading the inspirational book GRIT – The Power of Passion and Perseverance – by Angela Duckworth. Why? Because I read it on the weekend; glad I did! It’s a great read especially during these trying and troubling times!
Take Care.
