Tucker Hockey Statement

Information Bulletin – No: 3

Dated: Monday March 23rd, 2020

Subject:  Decision Pending on 2020 Spring Programs

To Our Loyal Tucker Hockey Participants, Parents, and Hockey Friends;

We hope everyone is keeping safe and doing well during this stressful and unpredictable time. After dealing with the initial shock of many facility closures and changes to our daily lives, it’s been a big adjustment for most of us to stay at home. For myself personally, I miss hockey (it’s in my blood), I miss skating, I miss coaching, and I miss interacting with you. However, I am confident this too shall pass. We just have to be patient and let things run their course.

At Tucker Hockey, we wish to keep you informed as we figure things out in the weeks and months ahead. Concerning the future operations of our Tucker Hockey Programs, we don’t want to overload you, but would like to periodically keep you informed. Regular Monday updates will be provided, as well as ad hoc updates & information when deemed necessary.

Winter Program Credits on File:

Prior to the end of March, our Administration Assistant, Candace will be finalizing the credit amounts from cancelled Winter Programs and notify each individual regarding their future winter credits. As previously mentioned, credits will be honoured by Tucker Hockey until December 31st, 2021 for your convenience.

Spring & Summer Program Policies & Directives:

At this time, we are still planning and organizing our Spring & Summer Adult and Minor group programs and accepting online registrations. However, this does hinge on the availability of the City arenas, which are closed indefinitely. We are optimistic that the vigilant health care measures taken by the government and health community will result in us returning to life as we know it. We are anticipating a busy summer period when things improve and get back to normal.

Spring Programs:

1 on 1 Coaching Programs start-up – Wednesday April 8th, 2020

Minor Group Programs start-up – Tuesday August 4th, 2020

By early April, we will have a better idea of the status of our Spring and Summer Programs. We promise to keep you in the loop as soon as we know of any developments good or bad that may arise.

TUCKER HOCKEY INTIATIVES:

In the days ahead, we will enact a number of initiatives to help others in our hockey community. I hope to create some good will and foster karma.

Our first initiative will be to send out some hockey related activities/exercises to you and your child[s] enjoyment. You will have the opportunity to workout and practice hockey skills at home. Coach Brian is working diligently on his program and this will be sent out in the next few days.

Stay tuned for this initiative as well as others!!

STAY HEALTHY & SAFE:

In the meantime, it’s extremely important for all of us to be proactive, educate ourselves, and adjust to the new living norm.

Following the  expertise and recommendations of our Canadian Public Health and Alberta Health Services Authorities is important to ensure the health and safety of our community.

Listed below are the federal, provincial, and municipal websites that are updated daily with information to help you with any concerns you may have about COVID – 19, economic programs included. All levels of governments are working together to fight this disease, help citizens, and defeat the pandemic.

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT:                                                   Canada.ca

PROVINICIAL GOVERNMENT:                                            Alberta.ca

MUNICPIAL GOVERNMENT:                                              Calgary.ca

Really the top priority for everyone is the HEALTH, SAFETY, AND WELL BEING of the general public at large.

PLEASE STAY HOME and take care of yourself. Team work is of paramount importance.

Keep clean hands – Clear and calm head – Open heart – Be kind to one another.

Self isolation is of paramount importance. Think of the greater good & cause here.

With strong team work and cooperation we will beat this challenge!

We THANK YOU in advance for your support, understanding and consideration as we navigate along with you; managing uncertainty, our stresses and change during this unprecedented time

Coach Rex

TH Coaching Tip:

Here are 7 key things we can do to reduce stress and anxiety.

1:  Limit our attention to this virus.

Check in each day with media sources to keep informed and educated but don’t watch the news from morning to night. Let’s have some other interests!

2: Show your gratitude each day.

We all have so many blessings in our lives. Focus on the good and be thankful for these blessings – family, friends, hobbies etc.

3: Focus on what we can control

Control our house hold and daily activities.

4: Connect with people especially love ones

NOT face to face. Reach out instead via a phone call, email, text message or video call. Let people know you care. Social distancing / self isolation will not mean social disconnecting.

5: Create a schedule / routine

Organize your day the evening before – work & or leisure. It’s important to have some structure and develop a new routine. Have things to do and look forward to each day. We will adapt over time.

6: Exercise each day

Personally, I’m missing the joy of skating on the ice! But it’s try to set up some sort of exercise routine going at home.

7: Play Music

The sound of music can lift your spirits. It’s very important to take care of our mental health as well as physical health during these stressful times. Whether it is music or something else you enjoy? Treat yourself to things or activities each day within your household that you truly enjoy and that gives you happiness. Fuel your own happiness daily!
