2023 Q3 Minor Hockey

Danny Cammack Memorial Award Recipient:

Finley Kinaschuk

Published September 28, 2023

This award was created in memory of Danny Cammack.

Danny Cammack had many of the passions of a typical 13-year-old, but none was greater than hockey.

What Danny lacked in size, he more than made up for with smooth powerful strides, soft hands and an uncanny puck sense.

As much as he loved the game, he loved the camaraderie that came with being a member of a hockey team. Perhaps this is why he was such a good team player. Dan loved to win but it was not the “Be all, end all”. He always kept things in perspective. Doing his best and having fun on the ice was what Danny was all about!

Since 2004, this Tucker Hockey Award has been issued quarterly each year to worthy program participants.

Coach Rex selected Finley Kinaschuk as the 2023 Q3 Minor Hockey – Danny Cammack Memorial Award Recipient.

Congratulations Finley!

About Finley:

  • Tell us a little about yourself.

Finley is an active boy who loves hockey, baseball, playing at the playground and riding his bike.

He is currently in Grade 2. He has an older sister who keeps him in line and is a great mentor for good sportsmanship. Finley’s favorite hockey team is the Golden Knights.

  • What do you like about the sport of hockey?

Scoring goals, encouraging his teammates.  He never misses out on taking his turn playing in goal.
Finley likes to collect hockey and trade cards and watch games on TV.

  • When and how did you initially get involved with Tucker Hockey?

August 2023 was Finley’s first Tucker Hockey program. The week-long hockey school was exactly what he needed to prepare for his U9 tryouts. Tucker hockey was recommended by his teammates from last year.

  • What has been the most enjoyable part of the Tucker Hockey experience for you?

Finley enjoyed skating with the older kids and playing British bulldog at the end of the sessions.

  • How has hockey influenced or positively affected your life?

Meeting new friends. Learned to be a good teammate.  made him stronger and improved his balance for other sports.

Editor’s Note:

Finley, glad you enjoyed your first Tucker Hockey program experience this, past Summer! Remember skating is the most important hockey skill. Keep in a good hockey stance – head up, knees bent, two hands on the stick and stick on the ice! Keep enjoying the game! Have fun! See you again soon on the ice!

Best wishes!
