2025 Q3

Minor Hockey

Danny Cammack

Memorial Award

Recipient:

Jake Bailey

Published September 18, 2025

This award was created in memory of Danny Cammack.

Danny Cammack had many of the passions of a typical 13-year-old, but none was greater than hockey.

What Danny lacked in size, he more than made up for with smooth powerful strides, soft hands and an uncanny puck sense.

As much as he loved the game, he loved the camaraderie that came with being a member of a hockey team. Perhaps this is why he was such a good team player. Dan loved to win but it was not the “Be all, end all”. He always kept things in perspective. Doing his best and having fun on the ice was what Danny was all about!

Since 2004, this Tucker Hockey Award has been issued quarterly each year to worthy program participants.

Coach Rex selects Jake Bailey as the 2025 Q3 Minor Hockey – Danny Cammack Memorial Award Recipient.

On Ice Instructors Korwin & Rob with Jake.

Congratulations Jake!

About Jake:

My name is Jake Bailey; I am currently 16 years old and I’m going into Grade 11.  My favourite hockey team is the Calgary Flames, and my favourite player is Mikael Backlund because he is a great leader and shows up in big moments when needed.  I started playing hockey at 9 years old.  At this point, I had already been learning how to skate for about 2 years.  I feel this was important to contributing to learning how to play hockey.

My first year of hockey I played in a U11 house league.  It was a great introduction to hockey.  The next year I joined the Blackfoot Hockey Association (Wolverines HC), and I absolutely loved it and had a lot of fun.  Although, as a newer player I felt like an inexperienced player compared to my teammates who have already been playing hockey for a few years.  As the year progressed, I started to improve and felt I was at the same level as all my teammates.  When I was younger, a major factor to my development was going to stick & puck and going to the outdoor rink.  This is because it gave me the free time to work on whatever skill I wanted, and I can say I have had the most fun playing hockey on the outdoor rink.  I have been playing with the Wolverines HC ever since.

I missed the 2024-2025 hockey season due to tearing my ACL playing lacrosse and having to get surgery.  As part of my rehabilitation, I had to find ice time which was hard since most programs don’t offer U18 summer camps.  Which led me to attend 4 weeks with Tucker Hockey School.  I really enjoyed my time at Tucker Hockey because they provided individual help to everybody, and I feel like my game has improved.  My favourite part about hockey is being able get on a team and meet lots of great people and have fun.  My most memorable moment in hockey is winning the 2024 City Championships and going to Provincials.

I will play hockey competitively until U21 and I plan on playing men’s league for the rest of my life.  I also want to get involved with coaching.
