2024 Q1 Adult Hockey

Bradley Mersereau

Memorial Award Recipient:

Paul Valentine

Published: March 21, 2024

This award is named the “Brad Memorial”. It is in memory of Bradley Mersereau, who was an avid participant in Tucker Hockey Adult Programs. Brad never represented himself as a great skater, or, for that matter, a good hockey player. He just loved getting out and being active. He always found a healthy balance between family, work and the enjoyment of hockey. He was a “true friend” and “hockey enthusiast”.

More about Paul:

  • What do you like about the sport of hockey?

I love the flow and the speed in which momentum can change. The ability for a game to go on and on with no whistles, changing on the fly, and constant back and forth makes it a sport that you never want to miss a play.

  • When and how did you initially get involved with Tucker Hockey?

A referral from a friend that was a happy client got me started and I haven’t missed a year since. I do the class twice a year and although I still doubt the existence of the mythical “outside edge”, I will never stop in my pursuit of finding it.

  • How has hockey influenced or positively affected your life?

I didn’t get to play growing up, so I have seen the impact hockey had on my children teaching them sportsmanship, team building and learning how to win and lose. I have coached their teams and I see what hockey can do to kids and getting them to work together to attain a common goal. Finally, when Canada wins, I am floating on air for the next week, and nothing can bring me down.

Congratulations Paul on being the recipient of this award!

Editor’s Note:

Paul, you have been a very loyal participant in our Fall & Winter Friday Noon

Adult Advanced Technical & Tactical Programs.

Thank you for your dedication over the past decade or so. Much appreciated my friend!

You have always projected a “positive light” in the dressing room and an “eagerness to learn” on the ice.

Coach Jimmy and myself have enjoyed the colourful hockey conversations – especially about the Flames and Oilers rivalry!

Yes, indeed hockey is a wonderful sport for all to love.

Paul, we will have a break through in the future regarding that “mystical and evasive outside edge”!

Keep the faith!  Good luck with your future wellness.

Trust we will see you at the rink again next Fall.

Best wishes. Take Care.
