This award is in memory of Ern Rideout. Ern was the first Tucker Hockey on ice assistant instructor. He began in 1999 to assist Coach Rex with his on ice programs. Ern was a major contributor to the early success and growth of Tucker Hockey on and off the ice. He will be remembered for his strong character, integrity, loyalty, dedication and amicable personal traits.
We are excited to announce Bryson Bond as the Fall 2019 recipient of the Tucker Hockey Ern Rideout Memorial – On – Ice Instructor Apprenticeship Award! This Tucker Hockey Award is given out each year to the on ice instructor apprentice who exhibits improved personal growth and development and a strong potential to be a quality on ice instructor within the Tucker Hockey team. We are appreciative of Bryson’s loyalty to Tucker Hockey and his hard work on the ice.

Here is a little more on the recipient Bryson Bond:
• Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born in Kindersley, Saskatchewan and started playing hockey when I was 13.
I work in Calgary as an Insurance broker
I just married my wife, Natasha in July of 2019 and we’ve just bought our first home together.
If I’m not playing hockey you can find me training in the gym, walking Hercules (the dog), and if it’s summer riding my motorcycle or playing golf.
• Tell us a little about your interest in the sport of hockey?
I started playing hockey late, age 13 but immediately fell in love with everything about the sport. The excitement, speed, creativity and competitiveness offer me everything I want in a sport.
I enjoy watching minor to NHL level hockey as well as playing in my local leagues.
• What’s the best part about hockey for you?
For me, it’s the competitive nature. Whether it’s helping our students compete against themselves to be their best or helping my local team win a game.
• When and how did you initially get involved with Tucker Hockey?
I enrolled in one of Tucker Hockey’s program’s. Upon completion of the program I reached out to Tucker Hockey management to inquire about an opportunity.
• What is the most enjoyable part of coaching/teaching players?
Helping players learn new skills and building confidence and belief in themselves.
• What, if anything, has instructing with Tucker Hockey taught you?
I could list a number of items but a big takeaway for me with our programs is that our kids get out what they put in. Show up, work hard and have fun.
• What other things interest you, outside hockey?
Training in the gym, Soccer, riding (motorcycle), golf and hanging out with my wife and Rottweiler
• What are your future goals or aspirations?
– my wife and I just bought a house so I would say a child is a nearing aspiration if we can call it that
– I’m currently a Level 2 licensed insurance broker and studying for my accredited broker designation
– To lead my local hockey league in points – currently 4th
– lose less than 10 balls in a game of golf this summer 🙂
